Texas grain stocks down

According to the Texas Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, the second-quarter wheat stocks for Texas were down 6 percent from last year.

Stocks in all positions on Dec. 1 totaled 45.6 million bushels. The on-farm wheat storage, at 2.6 million bushels, was up from the 1.7 million bushels stored on farms a year ago. Off-farm wheat stocks, at 43.0 million bushels, accounted for 94 percent of all wheat stocks.

 

All sorghum stocks in all positions for Texas totaled 61.0 million bushels on Dec. 1, down 2 percent from the previous year. On-farm stocks totaled 5.3 million bushels was up 77 percent from a year ago. Off-farm sorghum stocks, at 55.7 million bushels, accounted for 91 percent of all sorghum stocks.

 

U.S. corn stocks in all positions on Dec. 1, 2008, totaled 10.1 billion bushels, down 2 percent from Dec. 1, 2007. All wheat stocks in all positions on Dec. 1, totaled 1.42 billion bushels, up 26 percent from a year ago.

 

Grain sorghum in all positions totaled 312 million bushels, up 7 percent from Dec. 1, 2007. Soybeans stored in all positions on Dec. 1, 2008, totaled 2.28 billion bushels, down 4 percent from Dec. 1, 2007. Oats in all positions totaled 115 million bushels, up 22 percent from Dec. 1, 2007.
